This Scandinavian classic was designed by the Danish architect Louis Weisdorf in 1963 and put into production by the Danish manufacturer Lyfa in 1964.
While working as the main assistant of architect Simon P. Henningsen, Weisdorf was closely involved in the production process of several lights designed for Lyfa. The Konkylie was Weisdorf’s very first own design. Considering it a prestige light, Lyfa never produced large quantities of the pendant. The concentric construction of Verner Panton's famous Moon lamp was a source of inspiration for the creation of this sculptural beauty. Weisdorf used slats in a repeated shape, that interlock like the circles of a seashell. The kink in the shape enhances the architectural character of the lamp and provides an optical feast from every angle.
This rare Konkylie is ingenious, colorful and stirs the imagination, a great acquisition for any design collector.
