‘For The Light’, 2016 is a work by British artist and musician G. Leddington taking the form of a microphone stand that reacts to sound. In collaboration with Valer K (with whom he forms the electro-acoustic duo OKTBR), the artist wrote and recorded a tune for and in the presence of the lamp, which was the only source of illumination for the entire process. The song is published as a limited edition vinyl presented with the work.
The lamp offers multi-purpose usage: in addition of being a sound-sensitive light sculpture reacting to the intensity of nearby sounds, it can also simply be used as a regular lamp.
Nate Lights' Artist Editions is curated by Ben Van den Berghe.

G. Leddington (*1983, Bromsgrove, UK) lives and works in Antwerp.
In his practice, the artist is concerned with sound, minimal forms, the voice and rudimentary or non-verbal forms of language such as jazz scatting. Another recurrent theme is the problem of translation, from language-to-language or object-to-word and even form-to-form (as happens in For the Light). Leddington is interested in the communicative space between things and the gap into which things fall during the translation process.
Leddington has exhibited internationally with solo shows at Simultanhalle in Cologne, Galerie Mikro in Düsseldorf, All Year Round Club in Manchester and group shows in SE8 Gallery, London, Piano Nobile, Geneva, The Museum of Photography, Thessaloniki, Nicc in Antwerp, La Escocessa in Barcelona, de Brakke Grond in Amsterdam and Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn.
