This white eccentric beauty, designed by the Icelandic furniture designers Pétur B Luthersson and Jón Ólafsson in 1962, shares its name with Iceland's most active volcano.
After winning the first price in a prestigious lighting design competition in Copenhagen, the Hekla was brought into production by Fog & Mørup. It was a very successful design in both Europe as Japan.
Striking in this design is the absence of glaring bulbs and the use of shades instead, thus providing an optimal soft atmospheric light distribution. It is no surprise that even today this eye catching pendant is still widely sought after. The Hekla is a stunning piece of design with architectural allure but also a romantic object that spreads a dégradé of warm light, referring to natural forces and vast landscapes.
