Cesare Maria Casati (born in Milan in 1936), was -together with his former professor and architect Giò Ponti- managing editor of the Italian architecture & design magazine Domus, from 1976 until 1979. Later on he worked for the prestigious La Mia Casa magazine.

Casati & Ponzio (born in Turin in 1923) founded the design Studio D.A. in the historic centre of Milan. They collaborated with many important Italian design companies like Arflex, Guzzini, Candle, Martinelli Luce a.o. The two architects shared a strong passion for art, especially Pop Art. This movement highly defined the period in which they created their most famous designs, being primarily inspired by the work of Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg and Lucio Fontana. During their joint career, Ponzio & Casati created true icons of light, like their Pillola lights from 1968, colorful enlarged versions of pill-shaped medications, referring to a social phenomenon of the time: the increasing use of tranquilizers.
